METCO has established strategic supplier relationships with all the major international cell manufacturers such as Panasonic, Murata(Sony), MoliCell and A123.

A full range of different cells allows us to optimize performance vs. cost. METCO is a Panasonic authorized battery pack manufacturer. We carry out independent testing of the cells including voltage and impedance testing to ensure consistency and quality that the appropriate cells are chosen for the battery assembly.
Because we can offer several chemistries so customers can get all their packs from a single resource.

The Battery Management System (BMS) is essential to the safety and performance of a battery pack.

    BMS technology has three main objectives.

  • Protect the cells or the battery from damage
  • Prolong the life of the battery
  • Maintain the battery’s health to meet the requirements of the applications

    METCO in-house designed BMS incorporate the following functions.

  • monitoring individual cell voltages
  • monitoring the pack temperature
  • measuring the pack voltage
  • measuring the current flow (when charging/discharging)
  • calculating the state of charge (SOC), the state of health (SOH)
  • balancing individual cells
  • communicating BMS data to the applications (via SMBus /CANBus)
  • disconnecting the battery when necessary
The ability of the BMS to perform the above functions depends on customers’ requirements.

As a total solution provider, METCO R&D team also deal with the integration of a complete energy system including BMS, charger, DC/DC and software control.

Besides custom batteries, concerned to provide a quick, efficient and safe solution for customers, METCO has developed several standard battery packs for a variety of applications.
